Yes ladies and gentlemen, I am going to college.
USC? No.
Cal Tech? No.
Cal State Long Beach? Negative.
Clown College? No, but I wonder if I can transfer there....
I am going to the prestigious Cerritos College in Norwalk, California. I always wondered why it's called Cerritos College when it is not in the city of Cerritos. Unless when it was built, it was in the city of Cerritos and after the Norwalk Revolutionary war it ended up on Norwalk's side? Who knows. I am sure I could google the answer.
Anyway, my first week of school was not so bad. It could have been better had I gotten into the math class I was on the waiting list for. So instead of having a full day of school Mondays and Wednesdays I have class in the morning and in the afternoon. With a five hour gap in between. Hopefully that gap comes in handy later on in the semester.
My first class is a photography class which I am very excited about. The first day of class my professor talked about a camera that was hard to find and if found, should be bought. I found it on craigslist the next day for sixty dollars. The best part about finding stuff on craigslist is the people you meet who are selling these things. I bought my motorcycle helmet from a guy on craigslist who was a motorcycle enthusiast. I met him at his place of business and he had at least 6 motorcycles and 20 helmets. He was pretty cool. I bought my MacBook from a guy on craigslist also. I had to drive to Sherman Oaks to pick it up. When the guy selling it came out, he was this skinny European guy. He told me that he had many more MacBooks to sell and Canon camera equipment. He was a little strange. I also bought a tennis racquet from a guy on craigslist that turned out to be a counterfeit. I called the guy back letting him know that he had sold me a fake racquet. He denied it and hung up on me. I had to go through a whole process with Visa to get my money back. It was quite the adventure. The camera purchase was just as fun.
The guy selling the camera lives in West Hollywood off of Santa Monica Blvd. Yes, he is gay. He was pretty chill though. Omega accompanied me to West Hollywood that night. Not because I fear the gays but because I just wanted some company. I hate driving alone. We got to James' house (that was this guy's name) and I called him to let him know I was outside. Omega and I waited patiently. A minute or so after I had hung up with James, he strolled out with camera in hand. He was beautiful. Not like good looking beautiful but more like he was gay beautiful. He was wearing a tiny black tank top with what looked like biker shorts and flip flops. It was a great sight. James was friendly and cordial. He showed me the camera and explained it was in good working condition. I asked him why he was getting rid of it and he said that he was using digital cameras. Apparently he was a photographer. As I looked at the camera under the street light, James told me, "if you'd like I can take you to my garage so you can inspect the camera. There is better light there.". I politely declined his invitation, gave him the sixty dollars and was on my way, Not until later that night did I start to ponder on what James meant by his invite.
So now I have a camera for my photography class. I looked the camera up online and it gets some great reviews.
My other class is English 100. The professor seems like he is going to be tough. I mean, that's just what it seems like right now. He is hard to decipher. There are a few people in class who have taken him before so he can't be that bad. He reminds me of a friend I used to have in high school named Scott. They look very much a like. I wonder what ever happened to that guy. Anyway, I don't have much to write about the English class yet since all we did for the past two days was read our fourteen page syllabus. We did have to present a partner in front of class though. That was fun. I felt like my partner and I had a comedy routine going. She'd say something about me and I'd reply back and we'd bicker up in front of class. It wasn't so bad.
Well week one of school is over. Only 17 more to go.
