I have been to a lot of concerts. There was a year that Johnny Orion and I decided to make it our duty to go to as many GOOD concerts as possible. We saw a lot of good bands.
The Warped Tour was one of the concerts we went to that year. This is an annual show where a bunch of bands play; some big some not so big. It's a good show to go to though. There are like 10 stages going on at different times. You usually hear a small time band that you like that eventually makes it big. And sometimes you get stuck hearing weak bands like Dropkick Murphey's. Sorry DM fans.
I will never forget the last time we went to the Warped Tour.
This is what actually happened.
It was Jazz, Conrad, Johnny Orion, and I. I remember trying to think of an excuse to leave work early in order to make it. I somehow made it out and met up with the gang and we rolled out.
When we got there the show was already rockin' and rollin'. We walked through the gates and went to the chart that showed what bands were playing and when. We had missed some of the bands we wanted to see but there were still some good bands left so we set our itinerary and were on our way.
We walked past the small time bands who were playing in front of literally 5 people. It was kind of sad to see but we still made fun of them. We made our way to one of the side stages to watch a band we loved called Firm Rock.. They were actually really good. We had seen them before a while before the Warped Tour and they had gotten much better.
They finished their set and we had gotten a mad case of the munchies. It could have been the lack of food or the blunt burning that was going off all over the place. Either way we were hungry so we decided to hit up the concession stands to quench our hunger.
Conrad and J. Orion decided on some pizza or hamburgers. Jazz and I saw a grilled chicken stand and hit that up.
As we waited in line I thought about if I had made the right decision going with chicken instead of pizza or hamburgers. By the time I finished my thought it was too late because I had already paid and ordered my chicken. Jazz was ahead of me so he was waiting for me to get my food so we could meet up with Conrad and J..
Like I said, Jazz was in front of me as I waited for my chicken. I stood there anxious and hungry so I decided to spark up a friendly conversation with the girl working the grill. She looked like she'd had a long day and could use a little cheering up. I noticed her arms had like cut marks on them so I asked friendly like:
Rian: "Hey what happened to your arms?"
Chicken girl: "Sometimes I cut myself."
Her tone was not cheery at all.
Then to add insult to injury (literally) I reply:
Rian: "Oh, I thought you were cutting the chicken too fast."
As I said that I was motioning my hands in a chopping motion. Like the chefs at Benihana's.
She was not amused. I looked over to Jazz and he was shocked at what I had said and done. Chicken girl proceeded to throw my chicken on my plate and Jazz hurried me away before I could say anything worse.
We found J. and Conrad and told them the story. They all laughed at my absentmindedness.
How was I supposed to know?
