Tom Lykes

There is nothing like a good "moose knuckle" to keep you from working!

Don't you just love emails that include pictures of real people really being themselves? And all you can do is think, "I'm glad that I'm normal" only to realize you showed up to work wearing an "I love Jesus" tee shirt that has big ol' deodorant stains in the pits yellower than the sun itself! Oh well, hopefully no one will ask for a high five.

Then I get an email from a friend that read:
"How about a patient called the office and I said my usual "Hi! How are you?" and I heard an unexpected answer. "Not good. I'm sad" It was this young male and well I asked why and so on.....The point is he was sad because his girlfriend broke up with him. The way I consoled him was by telling him that he needed to listen to Tom Lykes.... That was so weird."

Nothing like using "listen to Tom Lykes" as advice for a broken heart! Then again.....what becomes of the broken hearted?

Speaking of broken hearted, it was my friend....we will call him The Nazarene.......The Nazarene's birthday yesterday (he turned 30) and he invited me to his annual birthday dinner at The Sizzler. I know, I know you're probably thinking, " The Sizzler? What year is it? 1986?" But he said it's be a tradition. I would hate to break a Jewish tradition. Anyway, when I got off of work I called him to get directions to The Sizzler only to find out that his family had gone without him. Oh I forgot to mention he has a twin sister so they took her and not him! He was down and out (not in Beverly Hills) so we ended up going to The Chili's. I tried to cheer him up by letting him know that the meal was on me. I think it worked because once he heard that his frown changed to a smirk. I take pride in knowing I can help the broken hearted without referencing Tom Lykes.

Wow, a day in the life of a playa named Quick....oh wait, a day in the life of Dylanpatan. I was so inspired from your blog. You definitely know the true meaning of friendship. I just loved the way you offered to pay for Nazarene's meal just to put a smile on his face. Brings tears to my eyes and thoughts of joy just reading it. Makes me want to go out and give all my friends a big fat hug!!
